BOARD GAME

Looking for 40 to 90 minutes of simple (but wacky) challenges to captivate up to eight players of all ages? Would you prefer it if those challenges involved mundane household objects? Would you be especially excited if you got to make a wager before said challenges were performed? Beat That! is your guy - a game which revolves around tokens, cards, and sorta-skills. PARTY TIME!

Y es, there are several more bits and pieces in the box (including ping pong balls, plastic cups, an egg timer, and chopsticks) but we promise that they don’t make the game any more complicated. The concept and details of Beat That! are super easy to grasp for the whole family, and that’s because its challenges - each described on a single card, which make up a deck - actually resemble the kinds of minute-long battles you’d have with your sibling in the back of the car on a long trip. You know, those dumb games you make

up when you’ve got nothing to entertain yourselves except a couple of random items that you found rolling around on the floor. These are trick shot challenges in the tradition of early Dude Perfect, and when you nail them, the sense of achievement - and accompanying celebrations - are as fulfilling as that perfect bottle flip. We’re talking tasks like table edge flip cup, ‘nothin’ but net’ flick shots (that’s where the chopsticks come in), last player to blink wins (blowing is allowed), object

stacking challenges, card flinging, ball bouncing, and more. Once the challenge is read aloud, players make their bets on how successful they think they’ll be at the challenge - and then, it’s on! ‘Battle Royale’ cards denote all players against one another, while other challenges require teaming up or duelling with one other player. If you’ve ever enjoyed chucking a sock into the laundry basket from the other side of the room, then Beat That! will scratch that competitive itch.
