I f you’ve played Exploding Kittens before, you probably know the basic drill: draw cards, avoid exploding, and do whatever you can to make someone else’s day worse. Curse You! takes that familiar chaos and gives it a magical makeover.

R age Mode is for those moments when a friendly game of cards starts getting a little too personal. It takes the familiar Exploding Kittens setup and turns the aggression up, adding new ways to sabotage, steal, and generally make life difficult for everyone sitting around the table. The standout addition is the Rage Cat figure. Whoever has it can unleash Rage Mode, giving them a nasty advantage before the figure inevitably changes hands.

The big twist is that the game changes as you play, with sealed envelopes containing new cards, abilities, and rules waiting to be discovered. That makes the first few games feel like you’re gradually uncovering what the heck is going on, rather than simply replaying the same formula. You can throw good and bad spells at your opponents, collect charms and curses, and watch the rules evolve as the envelopes are opened. It’s a neat way to introduce new players to the Exploding Kittens world, while giving returning fans something unexpected.

It adds another layer of tension because suddenly everyone has a good reason to keep an eye on who is holding the angry cat. The game still keeps the easy-to-learn, quick feel that makes Exploding Kittens work so well. Games take 15 minutes, so there’s plenty of time for revenge rematches when someone inevitably gets blown up. It’s chaotic, petty, and unfair, which is really exactly what you want from an Exploding Kittens game called Rage Mode .

And yes, there are still kittens, explosions, and plenty of opportunities to curse your friends when things go spectacularly wrong.
