Woohoo, it’s Wuhu! This new entry reintroduces Wuhu Island as a fully realised sports resort, complete with scenic routes and an assortment of activities that bring the island alive. Once again players can create a Sportsmate or Mii and explore the resort between events, giving the game that getaway feeling that many fans had missed. Plus, playing any sport in any mode accrues Spocco Points, which can be swapped out for ways to further personalise your Mii or Sportsmate. We’ll now be able to freely explore the island outside of events, with new activities including chasing dolphins in the ocean, as well as collectible hunts such as finding hibiscus flowers and snapping Spocco Photos. A new offline mode named Island Crown is also debuting, allowing players to rise through the ranks of each sport and challenge island champions – and even island legends! Take a break With Nintendo Switch Sports Resort , Nintendo has created more than just another sports compilation. The return to Wuhu Island, coupled with activities to explore beyond the core sports offerings, bring back the sense of escapism that helped to make the original Wii games so iconic. Add the abilities of the Switch 2, which offers more precise controls than ever before, and whether you’re a longtime fan or a new
The Wii Sports legacy The Wii let millions of players worldwide discover that video games could be physical, social, and – with its innovative motion controls - intuitive. It transcended the typical gamer audience to infiltrate all walks of life, ranging from families bowling in living rooms to grandparents swinging virtual tennis rackets. Nintendo then expanded upon the magic that they’d created by releasing Wii Sports Resort in 2009. Powered by the Wii MotionPlus accessory, it offered far more accurate controls over the standard WiiMote. The game’s setting, Wuhu Island, added a getting away from it all angle, whether it was enjoying swordplay on the beach, or archery overlooking the sea. Switching it up In 2022, the Switch era brought us Nintendo Switch Sports , updating the established formula with online play and the option of creating customisable Sportsmate characters, although you could still use classic Mii avatars. But some of us missed Wuhu Island, and its breezy holiday feel. Now, with Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launching exclusively for the Switch 2, Nintendo is taking us back to Wuhu Island – and they’re expanding the experience, too. More control The Switch 2’s upgraded Joy-Con 2 controllers have allowed Nintendo’s boffins to introduce more accurate motion input than ever, whether it’s swinging a racket, pulling back a bowstring, piloting a plane, or steering a jet ski.
Power cruising: Relive Wave Race 64 memories as you tame waves on a jet ski.
Prop plane: Explore Wuhu Island from the air with cool tilt controls.
Skateboarding: Have all sorts of fun boarding, using the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls.
Table tennis: Let loose fast rallies and sharp shots in this fun ping-pong sim.
Tennis: Another classic, let loose multiple shot types and rule the court!
Thumb wrestling: Do you have the thumb to rule all thumbs?
Volleyball: Bump, set, and spike in this fun team sport.
player, you’re in for a treat. Welcome to Wuhu Island!
