# 1 MY FIRST ALBUM

The music I heard growing up was stuff like Dragon, Deep Purple, Rose Tattoo, Heart, Ozzy Osbourne, Fleetwood Mac, and the odd pop chartbusters like Racey, The Buggles, Toni Basil, and Bucks Fizz blaring through the wall of my sister’s bedroom. 1981... Rocks On and DEVO Live were a couple of records I “owned” via my older sister Rachel’s record collection. But the first LP I bought with my own cash – given to me by my Nan - was AC/DC’s T.N.T. I went to a shopping centre and there were some trash and treasure stalls set up in the park. I know this sounds like something that would never happen in a shopping centre, but these were different times. The album had all the intrigue a young kid needed. The gatefold featured individual character assessments of each member, kinda like a police record. Pool cues, pimples, left hooks, Stone’s ginger wine... and, of course, Angus. I still have the record in storage (I move around too much to relocate my collection from place to place). When I have all my records set up permanently, I will crank up T.N.T. and know I’m home! MATT WALKER

Which recent album do you currently have on repeat? Tremor by Daniel Avery. What’s your all-time favourite album and why?

OCTOBER

Stone Roses self titled. My mum loves it and I remember when she first showed it to me. It sounds like the start of a crisp, Friday night – not much in your pocket but everything ahead. Do you have a vinyl collection? If so, how did it begin, and expand? Yes, I inherited an old collection. My ex-girlfriend then bought me a turntable. Needless to say my relationship with vinyl has endured while my romantic one did not. What do you enjoy most about working in music at JB? Every day being different, and co-workers who share interests.
