DJI Osmo 360 II Action Camera

THE ACTION ADVENTURER THE CAMERA When you’re flying down a trail, paddling a kayak, or scrambling up a track, stopping to carefully frame every shot rather defeats the point. The DJI Osmo 360 II Action Camera flips things around: capture everything first, then decide where the camera should ‘look’ afterwards.

Got your eye on the original DJI Osmo 360? Here’s what the Osmo 360 II brings to the adventure: Faster 360 video: Native 8K jumps from 50fps to 60fps for smoother fast-moving action. More dynamic range: Up from 13.5 to 14.5 stops to retain more highlight and shadow detail. Better after dark: AI SuperNight gets upgraded to SuperNight 2.0. New Spotlight Follow: Automatically tracks a subject, with 4K flat-video exports. Tougher, replaceable lenses: Improved scratch resistance, with damaged outer lenses now user replaceable. Quicker connections: NFC joins a new dual direction quick-release mounting design. WHAT’S NEW WITH THE DJI OSMO 360 II?

It records native 8K/60fps 360-degree video using dual 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensors, with up to 14.5 stops of dynamic range. That high-resolution spherical footage can be reframed into a conventional flat video after the adventure, while Spotlight Follow can lock onto a chosen subject and export subject-following footage up to 4K/30fps. One ride can become a forward-facing trail shot, a reaction shot, and a sweeping reveal without asking you to nail all three in real time. The Osmo 360 II is ready for an adventure. Waterproofing to ten metres without a case covers plenty of surf, paddle, and pool action, while user-replaceable outer lens elements provide back-up when rocks, branches, and backpacks enter the equation. There’s 105GB of available built-in storage, AI SuperNight 2.0 for low-light scenes, and gesture, voice, and selfie-stick twist controls for starting a shot when your hands are busy. That means fewer stops, less fiddling, and more time enjoying the moment.

WHERE WILL YOU TAKE IT? Mountain-bike trails, hikes, surfing, snorkelling, kayaking, camping, motorbike rides, and off-road adventures are obvious territory. It also earns its keep on road trips: mount it securely and the same 360 clip can take in the road, the landscape, and the crew sharing the trip, instead of forcing you to pick one view. 360 capture can also turn a simple group moment into something you can pan around later, rather than another static squeeze-everyone-in shot.

CAPTURE FIRST, FRAME LATER Mount the camera on a bike or use a compatible selfie stick and focus on the fun part. It sees in every direction, so the best angle doesn’t have to be decided in the moment. On a trail, the finished edit might charge forward through the trees, swing back to your expression and then reveal the mate trying to keep up behind you. That’s the real 360 advantage: the camera operator can effectively arrive later. Native 8K/60fps gives fast-moving scenes plenty to work with when reframing, while the 10m waterproof rating means a sudden swim, paddle, or splash doesn’t have to end filming.

WHO’S IT FOR? The adventurer who’d rather be in the action than constantly directing it. If you’ve ever finished a ride, hike, or surf thinking, ‘The best bit happened behind the camera’, 360 capture is a very handy way to stop missing it.
