What’s an early, cherished music memory? Seeing Gary Numan’s Pleasure Principle Tour in 1979. Which recent album do you currently have on repeat? Honey Revenge, Retrovision . What’s your all-time favourite album and why? The Cure, Faith and Seventeen Seconds , timeless masterpieces. Do you have a vinyl collection? If so, how did it begin, and expand? I have a huge record collection that started with KISS records I stole from my dad’s collection when I was about ten. Previously, I worked at record stores for almost 12 years, and never stopped buying music and supporting artists. What do you enjoy most about working in music at JB? I get to be involved in what I love.

When I was about 15, I watched Coal Miner’s Daughter , the Loretta Lynn biopic starring Sissy Spacek, and was so inspired. I grew up touring in a family band from the time I was 11, so I was already a musician, but she is the one who made me pick up a guitar and start writing songs. We were on tour and I found The Best of Loretta Lynn – on cassette - at a truck-stop, in a rack next to the cash register. We had a rule in the tour van that each person got a turn playing their tape on the long drives between shows. It was thrilling to pop in my own choice and keep the cassette in my suitcase, apart from the box of family tapes. Not long after, we played a summer festival where Loretta was headlining. I have the photo my dad took of us backstage, and I treasure the dog-eared copy of her book Coal Miner’s Daughter that she signed for me.
