T he heart of any workspace is the laptop. These portable and versatile workstations let you clock on wherever you are, with all your documents and assets on hand, ready to go. They’re perfect if your job is a hybrid of home and office days, or if you like to work during your commute or in a café. They are also great entertainment stations for when you fancy a movie, TV series binge, or a gaming session. Need more screen real estate? Laptops can easily plug into a larger monitor or multiple displays to spread out your workspace.

New generation laptops like Windows Copilot+ PCs can boost your productivity using inbuilt AI-powered features, and offer faster performance and much longer battery life. Then there are flexible 2-in-1 models, with the functionality of both a laptop and a tablet in one hybrid device. You get the practical form factor of a laptop, and can simply fold the keyboard back and tap, sketch and write on the touchscreen with your finger or a stylus. 2-in1s are ideal for presentations, and more creative tasks involving drawing or media editing.

What to look out for: • A speedy processor – entry level models can handle everyday tasks just fine, while higher-end laptops with more powerful chips and Copilot+ AI are better for more intensive tasks, and are a lot faster. • RAM is the laptop’s short-term memory that stores open programs, websites and files for fast access, so higher RAM means more efficient multitasking. • A good-sized display for working across multiple open windows and apps at the same time. • Generous storage space of 512GB and above – you can also use cloud services to store data offsite, which is especially handy if you work across several devices.
