WELCOME
When it comes to screen heroes, America has Indiana Jones, Britain has James Bond, and Down Under, we have Mad Max. George Miller’s 1979 milestone of Australian cinema has now spawned four sequels, which detoured the franchise onto a post-apocalyptic highway. Mad Max 2 (1981) redefined the modern action film, while Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) took it to a new level again with a full throttle and hyper-stylised series reboot that introduced a female protagonist every bit as tough as Max’s road warrior, and the focus of the latest instalment, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga . A prequel to Fury Road , Furiosa reveals the origin story of the eponymous warrior, played by Anya Taylor-Joy. Combining high-octane action with a deeper dive into the character, Miller deftly expands his Mad Max universe, introducing a host of colourful new characters, including Chris Hemsworth’s formidable Dementus, along with a few familiar faces – look out for a subtle cameo by Max himself! Furiosa delivers everything we loved about Fury Road , further enriching the saga with greater character development and masterful world building. When the gangs take over the highway, remember, she’s on your side! Paul Jones, Editor-in-Chief
