It’s classic Paul Dempsey: the Dunning-Kruger effect refers to people with limited competence overestimating their abilities. It is, of course, an ironic title because this dynamic duo – Powderfinger’s Bernard Fanning and Something for Kate’s Paul Dempsey – are at the peak of their powers. Sonically, the album is a surprising electro-rock excursion, with nods to Bowie and Gary Numan. The result is much fun, with Dempsey declaring it’s “less dental chair and more waterbed”.
