GET YOUR MOZA RUNNING!

Making waves in the PC sim racing space for a while now, Moza have just introduced the R3 Racing Bundle, their first setup that’s also compatible with Xbox, which comes with all that you need to get going. We had a ball taking it for a spin. Words Amy Flower W hen you invest in a racing setup, you want something that’s going

output curves is tweakable, along with various settings for sold-separately additions such as shifters and a handbrake. You can even launch compatible games that you own directly in-app. We’re here to talk Xbox, so we duly set the rig up on our Series X, ready for Forza fun. upon booting into Forza Horizon 5 , everything just worked with no need for a settings dive. You can have a controller and the Moza running concurrently – some setup functionalities are always easier with a controller – but once you’re off and racing, oh boy! Steering is super responsive, without the slightly cartoonish feel that some wheels can deliver. Of course, any decent racing rig has force feedback, and the Moza delivers solid road feel with its torque output of 3.9Nm. Trundling over hill and dale through Mexico in Forza Horizon 5 certainly gave us a fun time. Pedal feel is also good, the springs giving quite realistic feedback for an affordable simulated experience. The other key with a racing setup is compatibility. Xbox-wise, as well as several Forza games, there are titles in series such as Assetto Corsa, DiRT Rally, GRID, Project Cars, and WRC that all get on great with the Moza R3 Racing Bundle. You can even take Farming Simulator 22 for a spin with it! to be up for the rigours of spirited driving. Upon unpacking the R3 bundle box, you first encounter the 22-button, 28cm diameter detachable ES wheel unit, which feels suitably solid with its aluminium alloy core and flappy paddles, and PU leather wrapping. Delving further into the box, we find the direct drive base to which that wheel attaches – via a neat magnetic quick release system – and it’s quite a hefty beast. While nowhere near as large as many competitors, it’s made of solid aviation grade aluminium alloy, and you wouldn’t want to drop it on your foot! Because of its shape it can’t just be plopped on a desk and put straight into use, but that’s where the super-sturdy, easy to set up included table clamp comes in. The other key part of the R3 bundle is the SR-P pedal array. Constructed of high-strength steel, both the base and the two pedals

rest of the package. Very adjustable, a clever system allows you to remove and then place each of the pedals where you’d like them along the width of the base. We’re not sure that many will like it straight out of the box, with the brake at extreme left and accelerator at extreme right. Even Big Bird would have trouble heel and toeing like this... We connected to our PC first, so as to check out Moza’s free Pit House Windows app. The levels

of adjustment available for almost every setting you could imagine are quite astonishing. Everything from the RPM

R3 Racing Bundle is a great one-stop start. Plus, if you really get into it, you can upgrade various parts such as the drive base, and, as mentioned, you can also add extra controls for further realism.
