LISA FRANKENSTEIN The latest “coming-of-rage” movie from cult screenwriter Diablo Cody ( Juno ) is in the spirit of movies like Warm Bodies and Burying the Ex . Set in the same universe as Cody’s hit Jennifer’s Body , this quirky story tells of a misunderstood goth girl who falls in love with a re-animated Victorian-era corpse and embarks on a journey to find happiness - and a few body parts along the way. A homage to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein , it’s also a love letter to the sci-fi teen comedies of the '80s. KUNG FU PANDA 4 Jack Black and his iconic panda alter-ego Po return in Kung Fu Panda 4 , the long-awaited sequel, which has our titular character poised to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. There’s only one problem, Po knows as much about spiritual leadership as he does about healthy eating. If you loved the previous three chapters, then Kung Fu Panda 4 is for you, in fact, it might be the best one yet! 3/07/24 Horror FEAR THE NIGHT This unexpected action banger comes from celebrated writer/ director and playwright Neil LaBute ( Lakeview Terrace, In the Company of Men ). Starring Maggie Q, this tense action thriller sees eight women trapped inside a house during a bachelorette party when masked intruders surround the building and start shooting arrows at them. It’s up to Tess, a war veteran, to lead the women in a final stand against their attackers. Brutal and unflinching, Fear the Night is tense stuff. CHALLENGER Director Luca Guadagnino ( Call Me by Your Name, Bones and All ) presents a steamy modern day love triangle set against the backdrop of the Grand Slam tennis circuit. The entanglement of three young hotshot players leads to devastating consequences that linger for years. Starring Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor, this film is one of the sauciest and most talked about of the year, and is sure to get tongues wagging long after the final credits roll. 3/07/24 Action 3/07/24 Kids
COUP DE CHANCE In his 50th film, writer/director Woody Allen returns to Europe for his first non-English language project, Coup de Chance ( Stroke of Luck ). The story revolves around a woman who reconnects with an old high school friend and becomes infatuated with him over a series of lunch meetings, all while keeping it secret from her possessive businessman husband. Critically acclaimed, the film ranks among Allen’s finest works and is a must-see for longtime fans. REFUGE War is hell in this nail-biting new thriller from iconic director Renny Harlin ( Cliffhanger ). Sergeant Rick Pedroni returns home from Afghanistan a changed and dangerous man after suffering an attack by a mysterious force during combat. Officials claim he suffered a heavy brain injury, but his wife Kate knows that it is more than PTSD. Possessed by an evil spirit, she must race against time to unmask the truth, and save her husband from the clutches of evil. THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 1 No, you’re not seeing double. This month sees back-to-back movies from Renny Harlin, one of Hollywood’s most prolific filmmakers. This time he’s taken the reins of cult franchise The Strangers , delivering the first of three new instalments, which reimagines the terrifying home invasion saga. If you thought that the original two movies were scary, wait until you see what Renny has in store, and brace yourself for Chapters two and three, coming soon. BOY KILLS WORLD Prepare for one of the most dead-set bonkers movies of the year, as Bill Skarsgard stars in Boy Kills World , alongside Shartlo Copley, Famke Janssen, and Andrew Koji, amongst others. This ultra-violent action flick tells of one man’s quest for revenge against those who murdered his mother. With a comic book and video game attitude, this movie moves at a breakneck pace and is one for fans of Monkey Man , John Wick , and Nobody . 17/07/24 World Cinema 17/07/24 Action 24/07/24 Horror
