And bass lovers will be rapt with the deep bottom-end that’s immediately apparent thanks to a precision-tuned woofer, while the mid range keeps the vocals authentic. Tip: when listening indoors, floorboards really accentuate the bass! We put the Move 2 to the test with a selection of classical, hard rock and pop classics, and it was proverbial music to the ears! Outdoors or in, you’ll be truly impressed by the range, clarity and depth it brings to your favourite tunes. When you pick up the Move 2 to take out and about, the Trueplay function will automatically retune and periodically adjust the sound to suit your surroundings, as long a the mic is switched on. While the Move 2 pumps out some serious stereo on its own, pairing it with a second Move 2 will deliver even greater and detailed stereo separation for more immersive listening. Flexible connectivity All the major bases are covered to connect your chosen devices to the Move 2. It’s compatible with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 for easy streaming, or you can cast playlists and podcasts from an iOS device using AirPlay 2. You can also connect it directly to a turntable or laptop using a Sonos Line-in Adapter (sold separately). When taking the Move 2 on the move,
The next-gen Move 2 portable smart speaker from Sonos is here, and we took it out and about. Here are five things we love about it. Words Scott Hocking MOVE IT, MOVE IT!
Designed to move At first glance, the Sonos Move 2
resembles a premium speaker designed to sit in a prime position indoors – and it is! But the beauty of it is you can also pick it up and take it anywhere, using the carry handle at the top of the rear panel. The ultra-durable Move 2 is your outdoor companion, even by the pool, and you can relax if it gets wet. IP56 rated for water and dust resistance, it’s well protected, and also tough enough to withstand accidental knocks and drops and harsh climate conditions. Simple to set up Download the Sonos app to get started or add the Move 2 in Settings>System if you have other Sonos speakers. The app steps you through the set-up process and you can then adjust EQ settings, check the battery level, and conveniently add audio streaming services like Apple and Amazon Music, Audible and Spotify – and a whole host of radio stations – for quick and easy in-app access. The Move 2 incorporates the same control configuration as Sonos’s Era speakers, with a handy volume slider and tap icons to Play/ Pause/Skip and activate Sonos Voice Control on the top. At the rear you’ll find Power and Bluetooth buttons, along with an on/off switch for the microphone.
press and hold the Bluetooth button on the rear to pair it with your mobile device – the status light at the top will turn solid blue once connected. 24-hour power With up to 24 hours of battery life – twice that of its predecessor – the Move 2 is ready for an overnight
camping trip or an all-night party. Of course it all depends on the level of use – we got several days of continuous daytime listening from a full charge. And when it’s time to recharge or top up, the battery light at the bottom will blink amber; simply sit the speaker in the included charging base to power it up again. There is also a USB-C port on the rear to conveniently charge your phone directly from the Move 2 when you’re out and about. The Verdict Ready to move and groove? With extra durability, a long-life battery and spacious stereo sound, the Move 2 is your perfect partner for any occasion and location.
Sensational stereo sound Stereo sound from a single speaker might sound like a contradiction, but the Move 2 packs two angled tweeters to deliver distinct stereo separation and a wide soundscape. If you’re currently rocking the original Move, it’s well worth upgrading.
