Battery life varies between robotic vacs, but unless you’re in a hurry it doesn’t really matter, for they’re smart enough to trundle back to their bases and recharge, ready to finish the job when fully juiced up again.

When selecting a robotic vac, keeping your set budget in mind, make sure that it’s suited to the size of your house. If you have a small apartment then any should suit, but if you reside in a mansion then you’ll need a model that caters to more extensive surface areas. Take note of the size of the gaps under beds and couches. Some robotic vacs have thinner profiles and can access these harder-to-reach areas easily. Consider the floor coverings in your home. If you have thick rugs with tassels, for example, entry-level robotic vacs might get snagged. If you own pets that shed hair all over the place, you’ll want to ensure that the model you choose is powerful enough to suck up errant strands.
