As the name suggests, cold brew is simply coffee brewed using cold water instead of hot. However, it’s not the same as a traditional cold or iced coffee, which is made using hot water and then cooled and chilled with ice, cold milk or ice cream. It has a smoother and less acidic taste than regular coffee, with a subtle chocolatey flavour. Cold brew is traditionally made by steeping coarse ground coffee in cold water for 12-24 hours to extract the full flavour of the beans, creating a concentrate that is then mixed with water, cold milk, or ice. It contains more caffeine than a regular espresso because it’s more concentrated, and should be diluted before drinking.
