Noise cancelling has become a popular feature in headphones and earbuds, with the tech now available in many entry-level models. So, how does it work and why do you need it? PAIRING Tired of manually
switching between your laptop and phone when a call comes in? Look for headphones or earbuds that support Multipoint. Introduced with Bluetooth 4.0 in 2010, Multipoint connectivity is a feature that’s rapidly becoming more common in ear gear for all budgets. It allows a single set of headphones or earbuds to be connected to two devices at once, using the companion app. When a call comes in, Multipoint cuts out the hassle of manually unpairing from a laptop while you’re listening to music, working or watching a movie, and then pairing to your phone to take it. Multipoint prioritises calls and notifications and will automatically switch to the phone when they come in, muting or pausing music. And if you receive a call during a videoconference, the conference audio is muted when you take it. Check if a device supports Multipoint, and if it does, take full advantage of it! It’s a feature you probably never knew you needed until you use it.
