WELCOME

The origins of the smart home stretch back to the mid-’70s, but it wasn’t until the introduction of the radio wave platform Z-Wave in the mid-noughties that the potential for smart home integration was realised. Following the initial bewitchery associated with smart home devices came the realisation that this technology was both practical and beneficial. Today, many of us rely on our smart homes, but for those yet to take the first step, we’ve created a comprehensive room-by-room guide to building the ultimate smart home. Homegrown talent Matt Corby adorns the music cover and releases his new album, Everything’s Fine , this month. Plus there’s new music from DMA’S, Jen Cloher, Gorillaz, Lana Del Ray, and boygenius. Written and directed by Martin McDonagh ( Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri ), The Banshees of Inisherin is a dark comedy that explores the demise of a lifelong friendship between two best mates (Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell)), and is our movie cover for March. Nominated for nine Academy Awards, it hits home entertainment on the eve of the Oscars ceremony this month, prompting us to select some other worthy nominated films that belong in every home collection – and make some bold predictions on the categories they’re likely to win. In games, the much-anticipated remake of Resident Evil 4 arrives, and we chat with its producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi. And for wrestling fans, WWE 2K23 slams in, bulging with the larger-than-life presence of John Cena. Paul Jones, Editor-in-Chief
