If your phone has finally packed it in and it’s time for a new one, do the environment a favour and recycle the old one. But that doesn’t mean you can simply toss it in the big yellow bin with the household plastic and cardboard. Fortunately, responsible recycling of a kaput phone has never been easier. MobileMuster, a telco industry product stewardship program accredited by the Australian government, provides a free phone recycling service of the highest environmental standard. Over eight million Aussies have trusted MobileMuster to recycle their old phones! MobileMuster’s recycling is 100 per cent carbon neutral, and it accepts all brands and types of smartphones, as well as batteries, chargers, sim cards, and accessories. Its collection network provides public drop-off points nationwide, along with a free postal option – simply pick up a MobileMuster satchel from your nearest JB Hi-Fi store. Did you know you can trade in your old phone at JB Hi-Fi and quickly receive a credit towards upgrading to a new device – in-store or online?
You can only trade in devices that power on and are listed on the JB Hi-Fi website. The make and model of the device must be provided, along with the 15-digit unique number that identifies the phone. Multiple devices can be traded in up to a total combined Trade-In Credit value as specified by JB Hi-Fi. You will then be required to answer a few questions about your current device to obtain an obligation free quote. Should you accept the offer, you will immediately receive a Trade-In Credit from JB Hi Fi via email, which must be
redeemed at the time the new device is purchased. Once you confirm your order, your old device must be returned to JB Hi-Fi within seven days. You must be 18 years old or over to trade in. A valid Australian photo ID (driver’s licence or passport) and a selfie must be provided, as well as a valid Australian credit card number to act as security.

Some exciting new smartphone tech was announced at CES 2023 last month, which we can expect to make its way to us sometime this year.
Qualcomm unveiled Snapdragon
Qi2 is poised to become the global wireless charging standard this year, unifying the industry and eliminating any confusion over which devices are Qi-certified and Qi-compatible. Qi2 will incorporate Magnetic Power Profile for more secure automatic alignment of a device and charging pads, providing consistent power and faster charging speed.
Satellite, which will operate in conjunction with the company’s
powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Providing world-first, satellite-based global coverage for two-way text and emergency messaging, Snapdragon Satellite will prove particularly beneficial to those in remote locations. It will make its way into select next-generation premium Android phones in 2023.
