WHAT’S COMING IN JUNE?

MARIO STRIKERS: BATTLE LEAGUE FOOTBALL If you were ever a fan of Mario Smash Football on GameCube or Mario Strikers Charged Football on WIi and their unique rules – or lack thereof - then this should have you excited, as Mario’s coming back to the pitch with his Mushy Kingdom pals, ready to strike again! Yes, it’s five-vs-five action with a very Nintendo twist – being aggressive is a good thing here, and referees? What referees?! There’s online multiplayer, and even better up to eight will be able to play locally in wild four-vs-four action.

THE QUARRY Narrative adventure experts Supermassive Games return to the teen horror fray of their PlayStation smash Until Dawn with this new entry in the genre. This scary adventure outing stars David Arquette, alongside a hot young cast and horror legends Lance Henriksen and Lin Shaye, in a summer camp tale that sees a party take a horrifying turn, becoming a life and death situation when the teenage counsellors are hunted by blood-drenched locals - and something far more sinister!

1 What’s the first game that you remember playing The original Math Blaster on a 1980s IBM PC. My dad bought it for me to level up my struggling math skills in elementary school. 2 What was the last game that you finished? Immortals: Fenyx Rising . We don’t talk about that game enough. I play a ton of games for a few hours to understand the core loop, but very few hook me deep enough to finish. I can tell the next two I will soon finish are Halo Infinite and Kena: Bridge of Spirits . 3 What’s your favourite video game/series of all time? I am a Nintendo nerd to the core. The mainline Mario games get a slight edge over Zelda. Breath of the Wild is a stunning masterclass in open world design, but my family and I have poured hundreds and hundreds of hours replaying (and 100 per cent-ing) Super Mario Odyssey several times over. 4 What do you think is the most underrated game of all time? Okami and Sunset Overdrive both come to mind. While both were critical successes, not nearly enough people played them, and they are timeless examples of fun, novel gameplay. Sunset Overdrive’s encouragement to experiment with its amazing movement suite and combat abilities was stellar. Okami’s jaw-dropping art direction and paintbrush mechanic was such a unique twist on a Zelda-like action experience. 5 What’s the game that you most wish you’d worked on? The original Metroid Prime . I would have loved to have been on the ground floor of imagining the classic Metroid loop in a first-person adventure and learning from that team!
