venue theatrics. “We were in the mosh, we were pretty close – they had confetti going everywhere,“ she says. “They got up onto two boards – the drumkit was on there, I don’t know how – and came out into the crowd. I was glad I wasn’t underneath: one, I’m too short, and two, I’m not that strong!” She acknowledges the trust the artist must place in their audience when attempting these stunts, and namechecks Billie Eilish’s show as one she found particularly crazy: “That was the most insane pit I’ve ever experienced,” she says. Holly’s first experiences of music came via her parents who exposed

her to ‘70s and ‘80s pop: The Pointer Sisters, Prince, Earth Wind and Fire (“Me and my sister groove to them in the car all the time”), Tears For Fears (“One of my all-time favourite songs is Everybody Wants To Rule The World ”), and of course, Michael Jackson. It was her appreciation for the King of Pop which kicked off her now steadily-growing vinyl collection a few years ago. “I spontaneously bought the Thriller vinyl – it’s so iconic, why not just buy it?” she says. “Then for Christmas that year I purchased a record player, and then it just continued from there.” Her copy of Thriller is now her most prized LP, along with the JB-exclusive clear-and-black-

I t’s a weird time for Oz’s recent high school leavers: the first year out has lobbed a spanner into many plans. Holly Bunyan knew that she wanted to take a Gap year to travel, but that’s turned into a period of exploration into her chosen field of interest – event planning and management – while she continues to work in the role of Media Advisor

at JB Hi-Fi Bathurst. “I’ve always loved how concerts and events and festivals are set up – and I’ve always loved planning things, making stuff happen,” she explains. “[Event management] just seemed like two good things put into one!” Through her own interest in live music and helping out her younger sister’s locally-loved alt-pop band Trifold, Holly has been notching up her knowledge into how the puzzle pieces of events fit together. Her top live experience so far was Twenty-One Pilots’ late 2018 appearance at Qudos Bank Arena, during which the alt- rap Ohio duo utilised some

splatter version of Harry Styles’ awesome record of last year, Fine Line – "Everything about that album, I'm obssessed with!" she laughs. There’s still six months in Holly’s Gap year to go, so if you’re feeling like a chat about the best vinyl out, head into JB where the atmosphere is always convivial. “The people I work with, they’re so kind and loving and accepting – it’s just a fun work environment, all the time,” she says. “I love it here – I don’t even feel like I’m going to work!” Get in on that at Bathurst store today.
