THE SUPREME CLEAN

I t is a true design of beauty. The DysonV11 looks so sleek we heard it can do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. We’re not going to lie; when we announced we’d be featuring a vacuum cleaner in this section, three writers scrambled for the opportunity. And when you pick up a cordless V11 and actually use it, you can understand the interest. It’s like steering a speeder bike through your house, cleaning up Endor as you go. There are three cleaning modes on the V11 – Eco for the light stuff, Auto for normal conditions, and the powerful Boost that is strong enough to lift a wig off Elton John’s head. Battery times, that are handily displayed on an LED screen and will count down as the charge is used so it won’t just leave you standing mid-clean, differ from 60 minutes on Auto to just 15 minutes for the brutally strong Boost. The screen will even tell the user when the filter needs changing or if there’s a blockage. A redesigned, longer high torque cleaning head that senses different floor surfaces comes as standard but the further you go up the range, the more tooled up you’ll get.

What we love Like playing vinyl on a turntable, there’s just something mesmerising about doing the vacuuming. With no cords to get snagged, powerful suction and an all- round ergonomically friendly experience, we could do this for a living!

Did You Know?

Originally an artist, James Dyson went through 5,126 designs until he nailed the bagless, cyclonic design that changed the world.

“Hey Google, vacuum the floor!“

PUT YOUR FEET UP. LITERALLY

R emember the little mouse droid on the Death Star in Star Wars that Chewie scared off with a growl? You can now have a version in your very own home. Robot vacs have come a long way and while it was once the duty of the family dog to automatically pick up any scraps from the floor, the Ecovac DEEBOT Ozmo 950 is about to make your mutt redundant in that regard. Once connected to the Wi-Fi in your home, the bot will vacuum for 200 minutes on a single charge. And check this out: when it gets low on battery, it will return to its charging dock – and then recommence the cleaning once it’s fully charged! The cherry on top is that for tiled or timber floors, the Ozmo 950 will vacuum and mop simultaneously. The future is now. What we love The entire package. What isn’t there to love about a vacuum you can kickstart from an app on your phone and clean the house without you having to lift a finger?

Did You Know? Electrolux introduced the very first robot vacuum cleaner, called the Electrolux Trilobite, in 1996.
