BRIDGING ART AND TV

What we love Nobody wants to see dangling unsightly wires behind a TV. Of course, if you’ve got a stud wall, these can be buried, but it’s not such an easy solution if your wall is brick or concrete. The Samsung boffins have devised a 3.4mm wire that's practically invisible and carries AV and power to a media receiver. Now that’s a neat idea!

T he 4K Frame from Samsung offers something that your standard TV doesn’t – when it’s off, it’s art. Let us elaborate; fitted flush to the wall (or on a cabinet with a stand) it looks on the surface to be a sleek QLEDTV with HDR for accurate and vivid colour display. However, when the TV is not in operation it doubles as artwork and can be furnished with pre- programmed paintings or art that's accessible via a subscription from galleries all around the world. Budding artists can even upload their own masterpieces. Throw in voice support from Bixby, Google Assistant and Alexa, plus an array of sizes up to 65 inches, and you have the ultimate multipurpose device in your living room.

Did You Know? Over 100 million TVs were sold worldwide in 2019.

Did You Know?

W ho hasn’t reappraised their home entertainment space over the last couple of months? The good news is that Sonos – a name synonymous with exceptional audio quality – has just released the Arc, its latest soundbar complete with Dolby Atmos and voice control with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Apple Airplay 2. Designed with larger TVs in mind, the elegantly sculpted Arc measures 114cm long, and is complete with a whopping 11 high performance drivers for upwards, forwards and sideways cinema-quality sound. Sonos’s proprietary Trueplay system automatically tunes the Arc to get optimum performance in any room you place it. BRINGING DOLBY ATMOS TO THE SOUNDBAR

The first multichannel soundbar was released in 1998 and called the Voice of the Digital Theatre.

What we love A powerful Sonos soundbar with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Apple AirPlay 2 is just what the doctor ordered.

Dolby Atmos Once the sole preserve of film production, Dolby Atmos can now be experienced in the home theatre space, and Sonos has incorporated it for the very first time in a soundbar with the Arc. Traditionally, speakers are located on the roof to provide full immersive audio but with the Arc, the upward facing speakers bounce the sound from the ceiling to produce full height and depth 3D sound.
