As the awards season wraps this month with the 92nd Academy Awards, JB Hi-Fi has curated a range of AWARDWINNING CLASSICS to celebrate. STACK has handpicked a selection of past and present Oscar, BAFTA, SAG, Golden Globe and Emmy winners for your consideration...

JOKER Joaquin Phoenix's frighteningly brilliant

ONCE UPON A TIME... IN HOLLYWOOD Quentin Tarantino is always a major contender when it comes to handing out shiny awards, and his latest film has received 10 Oscar noms including Best Picture. It won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (yes, a lot of it is pretty funny) and Screenplay (by QT). And Brad Pitt's supporting role (arguably better than Leo's lead) has been duly awarded with a Globe and a SAG. CHERNOBYL This harrowing dramatisation of the catastrophic fallout from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion in 1986 deservedly cleaned up at this year's Primetime Emmys, winning 10 including Outstanding Limited Series, Directing, Editing, and a slew of technical awards. It also claimed the Globe for Outstanding Limited Series and Supporting Actor (Stellan Skarsgård). adaptation of the 1974 novel by James Baldwin – about a young Harlem couple battling racism and false criminal charges – was up for the Best Screenplay and Original Score Oscars last year. But it was Supporting Actress Regina King who emerged triumphant, with both the Academy Award and Golden Globe. VICE Christian Bale's startling transformation into Dick Cheney – veep to President George W. Bush – was rewarded with an Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Bale himself missed out on an Academy Award but received the Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, while editor Hank Corwin took home the BAFTA for cutting it all together beautifully. IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK Writer-director Barry Jenkins' powerful

performance as the eponymous DC supervillain has already received the Golden Globe and SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a leading role, and he's likely to add an Oscar to the shelf on Feb 9. The film's Original Score, by Hildur Guðnadóttir, was also widely nominated and won the Globe in that category. APOCALYPSE NOW Francis Ford Coppola's VietnamWar masterpiece deserved an award simply for being released, given its tumultuous production process. In fact, it was the first film to win the prestigious Palme D'Or at Cannes before it had actually been completed! It also received the Oscar for Cinematography and Sound, and a Globe and BAFTA for Director and Supporting Actor (Robert Duvall). GREEN BOOK The real-life (and unlikely) friendship between an African American pianist (Mahershala Ali) and a working class Italian American bouncer (Viggo Mortensen) was last year’s Academy Award winner for Best Picture, with Supporting Actor Ali taking home the Oscar, BAFTA, Globe and SAG. Co-star Mortensen was also widely nominated, and arguably deserved the Oscar for Best Actor. SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE One of the best Spidey flicks to date was always a shoe-in to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film – which it did, along with the BAFTA and Globe in that category. Even Pixar couldn't compete with the groundbreaking animation style – a combination of digital and hand-drawn techniques – that resulted in a comic book literally leaping off the screen!
