Extra keys As well as the usual keys that you expect, the Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile ups the ante with 11 dedicated control buttons, as well as a multi-function roller - hello seamless media control! Plus, four specialised macro buttons enable custom commands. Above the keypad you’ll spot four rounded keys that may not be familiar. Two of these allow easy access to connectivity, while the other two bring more features to an already feature-packed keyboard. First up, we have an AI key, which launches Razer’s AI Prompt Master – even during gameplay! Via the Synapse app, users can select their preferred AI platform and customise prompts for such useful shortcuts as instant character build or loadout recommendations, to summarising bulky patch notes, and beyond. To the right of that is a battery key. This is brilliant for when you’re running wirelessly, as a quick press indicates how much charge remains, by lighting up the number buttons above the letter keys. The fewer keys lit, the lower your juice.

Razer’s BlackWidow keyboards have a well-earned reputation for dependability, whether used for gaming or as everyday typing workhorses. With the new Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile Hyperspeed Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard the familiar warrior may have slimmed down, but its feature set remains top notch. I f desk space is at a premium, a full-sized keyboard isn’t always practical, even if it’s desirable. Alternatively, if you’re taking your keyboard on the road, you may not want to be shlepping something that's so bulky. So, this new ultra-slim BlackWidow V4 gaming keyboard from Razer will be great news for those wanting all the keys, being full-sized but without the bulk. It also has all the features you’d expect – and possibly some that you wouldn’t. At the heart of this latest BlackWidow V4 lie Razer’s proprietary low-profile mechanical switches. These are engineered for quicker actuation, with a shorter travel distance of 2.8 mm when compared to Razer’s full-height mechanical switches at 4.0 mm. This means a fast – and responsive - typing experience, all without sacrificing that mechanical feedback satisfaction. To achieve such a pleasing typing experience for gamers and typists alike, Razer has packed in lubricated stabilisers for smoother key movement, dual sound-dampening foam layers, plus a stainless-steel top plate to further refine Let’s start with what’s inside…

Speaking of the battery… If you’re running the BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile wirelessly, you can be confident that you’ll have plenty of power to last for months without charging – with up to 980 hours offered if you

designed to reduce wrist strain. Meanwhile, the chassis features an aluminium alloy top case, which provides a premium finish that not only looks the goods, but is also built to withstand the rigours of daily use – and gives enough heft so that the unit doesn’t slide all over the place, without adding too much weight. The keys feature textured doubleshot PBT keycaps, which are more durable and fade-resistant than old school ABS keycaps. Backlighting is a most desirable feature, and Razer provides, as their popular Razer Chroma RGB features, which is fully programmable via the free Razer Synapse app. The unit is also compatible with Windows Dynamic Lighting.

The BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile’s wireless connectivity comes in two flavours. There’s standard Bluetooth to pair with just about anything – up to three devices at the same time - as well as Razer’s HyperSpeed Wireless. Dongle-based, so you’ll need a free USB port (or dial it into an existing Razer multi-device dongle), this delivers pleasingly lag-free performance at a speedy 2.4GHz. Alternatively, you can go old school and connect via the included braided USB charging cable, and never even have to think about running out of charge.

Razer’s Snap Tap is a cool pro-gaming feature that enhances input responsiveness by prioritising the latest keypress without requiring the previous key to be released. This is especially handy in games that need rapid directional changes. SNAP TAP!
