GURRUMUL BANBIRRNGU - THE ORCHESTRAL SESSIONS (2024) Rightfully regarded as one of the most stunning vocalists to have ever graced us, the incredible voice – and the

conducted by seasoned veteran Jan Chalupecký. The orchestra never overpowers the sublime vocals, and the title track’s treatment is a standout, with the orchestral parts weaving gloriously with that astonishing voice. Elsewhere, Gurrumul’s Yol ŋ u language take on the revered hymn Amazing Grace , previously performed as a duet with Paul Kelly, is truly beautiful, simply featuring a

gospel-styled vocal backing and organ. Other reworkings include such treasures as Bapa, Wiyathul, Djilawurr, Djarrimirri , and the stunning autobiographical tale Gurrumul History (I Was Born Blind) .
