In November 1984, director Wes Craven revolutionised horror with A Nightmare on Elm Street , introducing the iconic Freddy Krueger. Blending slasher elements with surrealism, the film follows a malevolent spirit that haunts teenagers in their sleep, tormenting them with his bladed glove. It launched a franchise juggernaut, resulting in six sequels, a spin-off, a remake, a television series, and video games. At one point, even Freddy Krueger show bags were sold at agricultural shows across Australia.
