Often confused with Daryl Hannah, circa Splash (1984), this winsome star with big hair and a pearly smile blazed a trail across screens during the 1980s, playing a mean cello in the Fame TV series and cutting loose as Kevin Bacon's girlfriend in Footloose (1984) . The latter is the film Gen Xers will most remember her from, unless they're a fan of Warlock (1989), in which she plays a twentysomething cursed to age 20 years per- day by the titular sorcerer (Julian Sands). Although Singer was never quite the superstar like peers Molly Ringwald, Michelle Pfeiffer and the aforementioned Hannah, she had the ability to light up even the dullest of films, like Tom Hanks misfire The Man with One Red Shoe (1985) and Alan Rudolph's Trouble in Mind (1985). Post- Warlock and the arrival of the 1990s, Singer dropped off the movie map, making the occasional appearance in Robert Altman's Short Cuts (1993) and alongside Mickey Rourke in F.T.W. (1994), before heading to television with a role on the short-lived sci-fi series VR.5 (1995). The last Singer sighting was in the 2016 documentary God Knows Where I Am, so until someone like Edgar Wright or Quentin Tarantino decides to revive her film career, we'll just have to be content with viewings of Footloose and Warlock .
