DISCS OF THE MONTH THE CORNETTO TRILOGY It was billed as the world’s first “rom-zom- com”, and Shaun of the Dead has gone on to become the favourite film of many a discerning fan of the genre… erm, even if it isn’t a super- populated one. Director Edgar Wright and his co-writer (and star) Simon Pegg’s tale of two housemates, their extended family, and how they all deal with a zombie apocalypse that descends upon London remains as fresh and hilarious today, and is sure to scrub up a treat on 4K Ultra HD. Fuzz sticks its tendrils into classic buddy cop movie tropes. A high achiever cop is sent to a small village, where strange things are afoot. More odd happenings occur in the conclusion to the trilogy, TheWorld’s End . A bunch of old mates attempt to recreate an epic pub crawl from their youth, while aliens also happen to be doing a spot of bodysnatching. All three movies are set to arrive on 4K UHD with HDR enhanced vision and brand new DTS:X Master Audio sound. So, grab a Bloody Mary and enjoy – just don’t get red on you! Out Sept 25

APOCALYPSE NOW: FINAL CUT Francis Ford Coppola’s epic three-hour ‘Final Cut’ of the 1979 Vietnam War drama – that many regard as his most enduring masterpiece – arrives in a suitably epic 3-disc set this month. The main disc includes the movie plus an intro from the director, all presented in stunning native 4K with Dolby Vision enhancement and Dolby Atmos sound. While we’re all about the 4K here, two standard Blu-ray inclusions add to the spectacle. While the first features the movie, it’s the second one that will have fans really excited. As well as a selection of new interviews, featurettes and more, the fascinating 96-minute documentary on the making of Apocalypse Now , Hearts of Darkness , is included. CASINO From Mean Streets via Goodfellas and Gangs of New York , Martin Scorsese has always had an incredible knack for scintillating underbelly flicks, and many would argue that Casino is amongst his absolute finest. Joe Pesci, Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone star in this 1970s-set tale of the mob and their multi-million- dollar US casino operation. That it’s all based on actual events makes it all the more riveting. Set to hit 4K Ultra HD in the native 4K format complete with added HDR enhancement, a new DTS:X Master Audio sound mix is also set to be included – as well as a standard Blu-ray disc packed with extras. We often say that blah-blah- blah is a really huge month for 4K, but October seriously is. Recent cinema releases hitting 4K Ultra HD include animated features The Secret Life of Pets 2 , Toy Story 4 and the final part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ‘Phase 3’, Spider-Man: Far from Home . If that isn’t enough, our back-catalogue collections are set to expand with the final three holdouts from the MCU in Guardians of the Galaxy , Ant-Man and Doctor Strange . If THAT isn’t enough, how’s this? As well as giving us Maleficent to tie-in with the sequel’s cinematic release, Disney are bringing a bunch of Pixar classics to 4K, including Brave , Cars , Cars 2 , Finding Dory , Finding Nemo , Inside Out and Ratatouille . Whoa!

ROCKETMAN The life of flamboyant rock star Elton John hits the screen in an “epic musical fantasy” that’s as eye-poppingly colourful and musically brilliant as you’d expect. Neither your typical rock biopic nor musical, yet both at the same time, Taron Egerton is incredible as Mr John – and he has a

The HDR-enhanced vision scrubs up an absolute treat, while anybody armed with all of the speakers required to support Dolby Atmos likely still has a gargantuan grin plastered across their face.
