I t’s only just come to my attention that the man doing the peace sign in the image of Protomartyr up there is not actually part of the band. He was just hooning by on his pushbike, saw a lens, ride-by mugged at it and kept on his way. Which is how it can feel sometimes with the masses of music out there, and all of it elbowing for space in your ears: you get a tiny wee look-in at something, enough to say ‘Oh nice,” and then you’ve got to motor. Let’s face it: you’re never going to be able to hear all of it (I’ve gone
mad trying) so you’ve got to slow down a little and engage with less of it, more deeply. That’s how to find the elusive connection... I think. My interview with Protomartyr’s Joe Casey is on page 56, by the way, and he’s a man who certainly engages with things deeply. Have a geez at his contemplative words (there's also those of Ecca Vandal, Kllo, King Parrot, Tim and Sam from Cub Sport, Alex Lahey and more to choose from), and enjoy the rest of the issue. Peace out pals. Zo ë Radas (Music Editor)
