HALLOWEEN (2018) 40 years after he stalked babysitter Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) on Halloween night, Michael Myers has returned. Only this time, Laurie – now a survivalist grandma – is ready and waiting for him. The best film in the long-running horror franchise since John Carpenter’s 1978 classic, this latest chapter disregards events of prior sequels to serve as a direct follow-up to the original. 28 DAYS LATER Writer Alex Garland and director Danny Boyle joined forces to create this visually inventive and incredibly creepy post-apocalypse horror-thriller. A deadly pathogen spreads across Britain, turning the population into blood-vomiting psychopaths, while the survivors (including Cillian Murphy and Brendan Gleeson) attempt to flee London and escape the infected. 47 METRES DOWN Mandy Moore and Claire Holt discover how Hooper felt in Jaws when a cage dive in Mexico turns into a nightmare. A fraying cable and a broken winch send them plunging to the eponymous depth, where hungry Great White predators are lurking. If you need another excuse to stay out of the water (or a shark cage) over the summer, this survival thriller is it. 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE The best film in the J.J. Abrams conceived Cloververse, this claustrophobic and nail- biting horror-thriller stars John Goodman as a seemingly benevolent survivalist who comes to the rescue of an accident victim. But is he a delusional psychopath in disguise? Monsters come in many forms in Cloverfield, and all is revealed in a tense and terrifying final act.

THE AMITYVILLE HORROR "For God's sake, get out!" One of the most iconic haunted houses in horror movie history was the scene of a multiple homicide and home to the Lutz family, who fled after just 28 days. Author Jay Anson's best-seller (based on the actual events) became one of the event horror movies of the late '70s, and was remade in 2005. Both versions are available on this DVD. CULT OF CHUCKY Picking up after the events of 2013’s Curse of Chucky , wheelchair-bound survivor Nica (Fiona Dourif) is now incarcerated in a psychiatric hospital and insisting that it was the diabolical doll who murdered her family (it was). This is the goriest entry in the franchise to date – and the first to receive an R-rating – which should be all the recommendation horror fans need. PET SEMATARY (1989) If you're one of those Stephen King fans who didn't care much for the revisionist 2019 version, there's always the 1989 adaptation featuring zombie toddler Gage's bloody playtime with Judd, mommy and daddy. Directed by Mary Lambert, it's remarkably faithful to the book (thanks to a screenplay by King), and remains just as disturbing and horrific 30 years later. WRONG TURN 3: LEFT FOR DEAD It's convicts vs. cannibals when a prison bus is run off the road by backwoods mutants, leading to an extended pursuit and lots of gory kills. Blending elements of Deliverance and The Hills Have Eyes , this hillbilly horror franchise proved to be as tenacious as its ghoulish antagonists, with a further three sequels following this one, and a remake that's currently filming.
