FAME OF THRONES - WHAT 10 FAVES ARE UP TO OUTSIDE WESTEROS

A successful television role can be a springboard to seriously big movie roles. As one of TV’s greatest successes in recent years, Game of Thrones has launched a bunch of fresh new faces. Here’s what’s coming up movie-wise from 10 of our Thrones favourites. Words Amy Flower Alfie Allen The bloke we know as Theon Greyjoy has been busy working on The Predator , a sequel to 1987’s Predator . While he doesn’t get to play with Arnie, he does get to rub shoulders with the likes of Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Thomas Jane, Jake Busey, Edward James Olmos, Olivia Munn and Australia’s Yvonne Strahovski. The flick is being directed by Lethal Weapon creator Shane Black (who also had a small role in the original Predator ), and is due to burst into cinemas later in 2018. Gwendoline Christie Brienne of Tarth is taking a break from one fantasy world to join another, in some little thing called Star Wars . More specifically, she’ll be reappearing as Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Last Jedi , from director Rian Johnson ( Looper ) when it hits cinemas on December 15. The busy Gwen will also star alongside Steve Carell in The Women of Marwen , which is due late 2018. Emilia Clarke Daenerys Targaryen is taking a break from one fantasy world to join another – hang on, we’ve already used that. Anyway, Emilia is making a sortie into the Star Wars universe too, as Kira in Solo: A Star Wars Story . But before Ron Howard’s project hits, we’ll see Em starring in Above Suspicion , a crime thriller from renowned Aussie director Phillip Noyce which also stars Thora Birch, Jack Huston and Johnny Knoxville. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau What’s Jaime Lannister up to at the moment? Well, he’s hooked up with director Brian de Palma ( Scarface, The Untouchables ) for suspense thriller Domino . He’ll star alongside fellow Gamer Carice van Houten, as they take on the roles of two cops who go rogue when hunting all over Europe for the killer of their former partner. Also starring Guy Pearce, the movie is currently in post-production, so expect a release date soon. Peter Dinklage There's persistent rumour buzz that Tyrion

Clockwise from top left: Sophie Turner in X-Men: Dark Phoenix , SophieTurner and Kit Harington in Game ofThrones , Kit Harington in The Death and Life of John F. Donovan , MaisieWilliams in Game of Thrones and The New Mutants Uh, sorry, she'll be starring in Fighting with My Family , a new dramedy from very funny – and very tall – Brit Stephen Merchant. Lena’s hanging with some serious acting muscle, both literally and figuratively, in Dwayne Johnson, as well as Vince Vaughn, WWE bloke Stephen ‘King Sheamus’ Farrelly and Nick Frost. Look for it in 2018. SophieTurner Sansa Stark undergoes quite the metamorphosis to become Marvel’s telekinesis queen Phoenix (AKA Jean Grey) once again in X-Men: Dark Phoenix . Jean develops amazing powers that change and corrupt her, so X-Men types like Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult are left to decide her fate. Simon Kinberg’s action explosion is set to assail cinemas in November, 2018. MaisieWilliams Ah, Arya Stark. So young, so busy! As well as lending her voice to a character in Aardman’s upcoming animated feature Early Man , Maisie will be seen in drama Departures , alongside Nina Dobrev, Asa Butterfield, Ken Jeong and Kimmy Schmidt ’s Tituss Burgess. But the really big news is she’ll be getting her Marvel on as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane in The New Mutants , a dark-looking MCU tale from director Josh Boone ( The Fault in Our Stars ). It’s expected in Australian cinemas April 12, 2018.

Lannister has filmed a mystery role for Avengers: Infinity War ; more definite is I Think We’re Alone Now , which thankfully isn’t a biopic of ’80s poppet Tiffany. It’s actually a sci-fi drama in which Dinklage stars alongside Elle Fanning. The movie is directorial debut for Reed Morano, who has worked on episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale and Halt and Catch Fire , and its post-apocalypse set-up sees Dinklage's reclusive character suddenly facing the threat of – uh-oh – companionship. Natalie Dormer As well as starring alongside John Bradley in Patient Zero , the woman we also knew as Margaery Tyrell takes the lead in In Darkness . Nat plays a blind musician who hears a murder take place in an upstairs apartment. This leads to her becoming involved with the dark London underworld (as distinct from the dark London underground). In Darkness is due for release before we say goodbye to 2017. Kit Harington He could probably grab more action-packed roles, but the man whom we also know as Jon Snow has opted for The Death and Life of John F. Donovan , a new Canadian drama. Set 10 years after the passing of a TV star, a young actor reminisces about the correspondence he shared with him. Director Xavier Dolan’s film also stars Jessica Chastain, Susan Sarandon, Natalie Portman, Thandie Newton, Sarah Gadon and Kathy Bates. Lena Headey Just prior to appearing with Jorah Mormont in the also as-yet-unreleased The Flood , Cersei Lannister will be fighting with her family...
