After a convoluted start, this blackly comic series has finally found its footing, and fans of the comic books will find it's now more in tune with the source material. Having escaped the destruction of Annville, Jesse (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga) and vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) hit the road in search of God, who has reportedly gone into hiding in New Orleans – "because he likes jazz" of course. But their quest is hindered by the unstoppable Saint of Killers, as well as a secret organisation called the Grail – dedicated to eliminating false prophets and run by

Glitch finally returns to answer some of the questions that have been gnawing at viewers since the dead returned from their graves in the rural Victorian town of Yoorana. Following season one's cliffhanger and startling twist concerning Dr. Elishia Keller (Genevieve O'Reilly), local cop James Hayes (Patrick Brammall) has even more to deal with, not least the possibility his wife may have died during childbirth and has also returned. Noregard Pharmaceuticals may hold the key to solving the mystery of the risen, but getting in there could prove difficult for

the ruthless Herr Starr (Pip Torrens), who's surely one of the most hilarious and unpredictable villains on TV. Season two also has Noah Taylor as Hitler and a truly jaw-dropping revelation destined to upset the more devout, who fortunately aren't likely to be watching a show like Preacher . SH

James and the returned, especially with a force determined to correct the glitch in hot pursuit. Moreover, the invisible barrier confining the dead to the town is rapidly shrinking... An intriguing and largely satisfying season that leaves the door ajar for a potential third round. SH (see page 24)

A man down on his luck makes one wrong turn. That's the unifying premise of the American hardboiled tradition. The Coen brothers gave this their unique flavour and bottled it as the 1996 feature Fargo . Utilising that spirit, the TV series has been mixing up its own delirious cocktail ever since and this third season is its potent best, with the stakes raised even higher. Year Three belongs to star Ewan McGregor, who plays dual roles as brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy. The former has done well for himself, the latter not so much. Ray also believes he's entitled to something belonging to Emmit, resulting in one of the more surreal trips to Fargoland. AC

This popular legal dramedy is driven by an ensemble of sure- footed and fast-talking Aaron Sorkin prototypes. Principals Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Mike (Patrick J. Adams) make a dynamic team – Harvey is an established lawyer in the Big Apple, while Mike is a felon with a brilliant mind. Following Mike's jail time rehab, the showrunners dynamics while broadening the relationships and overarching storyline. Make no mistake though, fans will still get all the silver-tongued legal speak and sleight of hand they've come to love from this show. AC have made the effort to underplay the odd couple

The eponymous arctic town is still reeling from the terrifying events of season one when a blood red aurora blankets the sky – a portent of a new menace that arrives in the form of a ritualistic serial killer from legend. Governor Hildur (Sofie Gråbøl) has been replaced by a toad-like bureaucrat with a hidden agenda; Vincent (Luke Treadaway) is struggling to recover from his encounter with the wasps; and Dan (Richard Dormer) has gone completely off the rails, as though possessed by a demonic force. This strange, slow burn Nordic thriller does jump the shark in its second year, but there are enough gory shocks and twists to forgive the occasional narrative lapse. SH

Complementing this month's release of The Crown, The White Princess reveals women already wielding considerable influence during the time of the Tudors – albeit from behind the throne. Adapted from the novel by best-selling author Philippa Gregory, who also gave us the TV hit The White Queen, this juicy, fictionalised account of titular historical figure Elizabeth of York (Jodie Comer) takes place in the aftermath of a bitter war. The kingdom can be united by a marriage between Elizabeth and Henry VII, but there are numerous obstacles to overcome, not least their disdain for each other. AC
