Returning directors Joe and Anthony Russo never lose
control of this massive Marvel juggernaut, alternating the hyperactive action scenes with comic relief, and effortlessly introducing Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and the new Spidey (Tom Holland). A mighty movie whose whole is as awesome as the sum of its parts, Captain America: Civil War sets a new benchmark for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Scott Hocking

Iron Man director Jon Favreau isn’t the first name that would spring to mind when a live-action meets CGI version of Rudyard Kipling’s beloved The Jungle Book is mooted. Ah, but he puts his well-rounded skill set to great use here, launching the career of young Neel Sethi as the story’s hero, Mowgli, and gathering numerous Hollywood heavyweights to voice various jungle inhabitants.
