Hitman 2

LEGO DC Supervillains

to, and the departure from the episodic formula is a welcome one. We can’t wait to see all the chaotic ways people choose to play through the game, and if in fact that offers up alternate campaign endings. Next it was on to LEGO DC Supervillains . Being huge fans of both the LEGO games and DC Comics, we couldn’t wait to give this one a go, and it didn’t disappoint. You start off by creating your own character from scratch – and of course you can randomise it if you so wish. You then join ranks with Lex Luthor, and being that you’re in the middle of a mass prison breakout, you get to play as a few different characters along the way. Similar to previous LEGO games, each character usually has a unique trait, whether it’s a weapon type or skill that can usually help progress the level – or unlock hidden secrets in free play. All the characters also have their own unique weapons, and it was nice to see the return of the score multiplier for attack combos. It’s still got the same punny dialogue and childish jokes that the LEGO games are known for, but is smart enough that it’ll appeal to adults too. And, of course, there’s the fact that you get the chance to play as some of your favourite DC comic villains – not to mention some you’ve never even heard of. There’s something for everyone in the LEGO games, and we took a particular liking to LEGO DC Supervillains .

WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT

WBIE had two games on their booth at E3 that we were hanging to check out – Hitman 2 and LEGO DC Super Villains . We’re happy to report that both were great fun. Words Alesha Kolbe

W e kicked things off is not releasing episodically like the first one. The mission we got to play through involved Agent 47 at a motorsport race, with his assassination target being one of the drivers. In the demo we were given two choices of how to progress the campaign – with Hitman 2 , which you’ll be glad to know

sabotage the car or try the more complicated route of sniping her while she’s driving – and we were told that the full game would have more than just those to pick from. Of course, being E3 and full of self-confidence in our gaming abilities, we opted for the more difficult option. First, this meant disguising ourselves well enough to be let into the VIP area, which

of course meant killing someone to attain their uniform. You’ll need to be careful of who you kill and how you do it as not to arouse suspicion, and it’s worth at least attempting to hide the body somewhere. Once inside, you proceed through a few laneways, pick up the sniper left behind for you, eliminate the rooftop guard, and time your shot to make sure you hit the driver on the main straight, accounting for both car speed and bullet drop. It was no mean feat, but we got there in the end, and were rewarded with all the other ways we could have accomplished our mission (in the full game). Hitman is all about letting you play the way you want
