Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
to collect motes. These motes are stored, and can be used to send over ‘blockers’ to the other team; Taken AI that will impede the enemy’s progress. Collect enough motes and you can even send an allied player over with a buff to take on the enemy Guardians themselves. Once you gather enough motes you’ll raise the final boss – a primeval – and the first team to take down their primeval are the victors. Of course, there are new story elements and the like accompanying the release of Forsaken , but Gambit is going to be where you’ll want to head first come September 4. While last year all the nostalgic buzz was around the return of Crash Bandicoot, this year there was instead a little purple dragon to be excited about. Spyro is making a triumphant return to consoles (PS4 first), and judging by the lines at the booth, there is a fair amount of hype around this one. The jump in appearance is astounding, and old fans are going to love how much of a shine old mate Spyro has received. For now, he’s only coming to PlayStation, but considering that Crash was also a timed exclusive, don’t be surprised if we see the reboot hitting other consoles, too, come this time next year. Last, but certainly not least, the mysterious Shadows Die Twice trailer that was shown at The Game Awards last year has turned out to be Sekiro: Shadows DieTwice , a game by developer FromSoftware. Barely anything is known about it as yet, but Dark Souls comparisons aside, this one looks like a hell of a lot of fun. Fast-paced samurai combat with an augmented-but-not-really left arm?! Sign us up right now. Samurai are looking to be the new flavour of the month.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
Activision
Though Activision only came to E3 2018 with four titles, they had one of the strongest showings at the expo, and generally the longest lines at the event. Words Alesha Kolbe
W ith another year comes another Call of Duty, and this year’s instalment is another visit to the Black Ops franchise. Black Ops 4 has more Zombies than you’ll probably have time to slay, in a bunch of different modes, and of course, a battle royale mode. We were lucky enough to go hands on with about 20 minutes of the game’s Team Deathmatch multiplayer mode, and can safely say it’s definitely more Call of Duty. The Recon class we played was a lot of fun, as you can see radar blips of nearby enemies, and can deploy a little radar beacon that will give you exact locations of enemies in a small radius. The
new instalment feels fast, and will likely appeal to Black Ops fans, however we can’t wait to get our hands on the many new Zombies modes we’ve been promised, not to mention see how this battle royale mode will shape up against the rest of the market. Of course, who could forget about Destiny 2 . In September, the next drop of content for Bungie’s MMOFPS will release, titled Forsaken , and indisputably the best thing about it is the new Gambit mode. It’s a multiplayer mode that’s essentially PvPvE. Two teams are dropped into an arena, separate to each other. Instead, you’re battling enemy AI
