So what’s next for David Brent? Any plans in the pipeline? We’ve got a few gigs before Christmas; a couple of arena gigs for David Brent Christmas shows which I’m very excited about. Obviously promoting the album around the world. In the meantime I’m getting my own tour together. Me as myself doing stand-up, which I haven’t done for six years. So I suppose my stand-up is my next big project. That’s the thing most likely to bring me to Australia to be honest. this might be the best one I’ve done, because I consciously didn’t want to write it like the last ones, I just wanted to go out and do it. I’ve done a lot of warm-ups. It’s much more organic. It’s my most honest, I think, which is what you should do. You should always be trying to tell the whole truth more and more. The older I get, I think the truth is everything. Don’t give a f–k what people think about it, or if they like the truth, you’ve still got to f–ing say it. Thanks for the chat, Ricky. It was great. Thank you, that was a pleasure. Is stand-up something you enjoy? I do more and more now. I think

to get there and always travel west, and then come back the same way, it will take me a long time and I reckon I could beat it. So if I go L.A., Hawaii, Australia, Tokyo, and then come back, I reckon I can get away with jetlag. What do you think? It’s worth a try. I love the wildlife. It’s because it’s been separated for millions of years, that now you’ve got these marsupials and they are the craziest, loveliest animals in the world. Obviously you’ve got the most poisonous snakes, spiders, jellyfish, and sharks. I don’t even like an English bath spider. Yes, there are plenty of snakes where I’ve just moved. Not overly comforting for an Englishman. I certainly keep my eyes open when I’m walking the dog through long grass. Keep the serum in the fridge, do you? [Laughs] No, it’s not quite that bad. Yeah, I know it’s rare because the most poisonous ones don’t usually get into your house or gardens. But yes, Australia is certainly on my bucket list. I do love the idea of the country. I’ve got a lot of Australian followers on Twitter and Facebook. I’ve got to do it.

a pillow. Head on a pillow.’

Do you enjoy performing live to big crowds like that? Probably the most fun I’ve ever had. It was incredible. Were you nervous? No, because it was in character. So it can’t go wrong. If it does go wrong, it’s funny. They’re in on the joke. The crowd were singing along to the gigs we did after the album came out in the UK. Honestly, it was like a Queen concert. It’s unbelievable. I had to stop myself from laughing. It’s unbelievable, and the band is amazing. Even though it’s a joke, it’s an absolutely f–ing thrill. Are you ever going to make it out to Australia then? Yeah. It’s on my bucket list. Honestly. I want to find five weeks. I don’t want to pop out there, do a junket and come back. If you did a quick visit, the jetlag would ruin you. Exactly, but I think I’ve got a way around that. This is maybe a weird theory, but I reckon if I take three days
