who cares about us.’ That’s exactly what has happened. When he said that ridiculous thing, ‘I love the uneducated’ I thought that’s going to be important that phrase, and it was. It’s exactly what got him in. What got him in was white, non-college educated people. What I can’t understand is with half America being women, why did women vote for Trump? What with the time difference, the hardest part of the day was watching it all happen in real time. It was quite unbelievable watching it unfold as I sat at my desk… Well, going to bed last night, I thought Hilary might just put it through. People might go, ‘Do you know what? We do need a real President. We need someone who is a politician, right? But they’d already made up their mind. It’s exactly the same as Brexit, because Brexit was ‘of course they’re going to remain’. It’s ridiculous – look at the polls. But it’s those people that did it in secret, and then the next day when they’d won, they’d come out with the placards, ‘Go home’ like the world had changed. Like they called suddenly, ‘I’ve always been a racist.’ Like, what the hell, you won! You haven’t won. We’ve all lost. Some people want to see the world burn, that’s the problem. Some people just want to see the world burn. I imagine the Democrats waking up today in shock. They haven’t seen anything like it in America. It’s incredible. Think of ten years ago if someone said, ‘See that billionaire with the funny hair, who does the Apprentice show? He’s going to be President of the United States in ten years.’ You’d think, course he’s not. Congratulations on A Life on the Road . I thought it was very funny. Thank you very much. Obviously it’s a comedy, but I think people are going to be surprised how

Good evening Ricky. Well, what a day? Well, I’m sort of in shock, and I’m sort of numb to it. But I have lived through Brexit, so I feel like I’ve had a sort of inoculation, do you know what I mean? I wouldn’t know what had gone wrong with the world if I wasn’t a little bit more prepared because of the Brexit thing; it’s exactly what happened with Brexit really, it’s those people who think they’ve been getting a bad deal, whereas actually they haven’t. I mean, how many times have you heard these white American Christians saying, ‘We’ve had it tough.’ No, you haven’t. You’ve had it your own way for 200 years. That’s the problem. When other people come along and say, ‘We’d like

to share some of that equality’ and people who have had privilege all their lives suddenly start thinking they’re being oppressed because someone else wants a bit of their equality and freedom. That’s what everyone’s got up about. So it’s all those people who think they’re disenfranchised but going, ‘Yeah, we’ve got a poster boy now
