• Be you, embrace being you and find something that makes you unique. Highlight a strength to share with others. • Start 2–3 days streaming for short timeframe (3 hours ideal) and focus on content outside streaming to grow your audience (YouTube, Instagram, Twitter). • Play what you enjoy but decide if you want the game or your personality to dictate your streaming/content career. • Don’t get caught up in the ego and numbers, but at the same time don’t be afraid to also evolve and grow your content to attract new viewers. • Don’t procrastinate on “perfection” that doesn’t exist, just start! And keep going! What’s the best thing to have come out of your career as a content creator? Making so many friends, both in Australia and overseas. Gaming connects so many from around the world. It’s funny, for example, how something as simple as a game with a random can turn into a great new friend. Recently going to PAXAUS – this year was amazing as I got to meet so many others I have come to know online in person. It was such a surreal and fun experience to have personal chats, share a cheeky drink and celebrate friendships.

We’re profiling some of Australia’s biggest content creators to see what really makes them tick. RangKangDamn is a 30-year-old from Australia. Born with a golden set of vocals and slick dance moves, RangKang is all about inspiring others to be their best selves, indulging in donuts to stay thick, and enjoying a cheeky meme or 10. RangKang mostly plays FPS and Battle Royale games, but also casually enjoys playing horror titles and story-based games. Outside streaming RangKang is a busy man, working hard full time to support his family and content creator ambitions.

What got you into content creating in the first place? I’ve always been a creator and an entertainer, and am a loud and animated individual. I have always been heavily into absorbing online content and always desired to make my own. It wasn’t till recent years that I was able to get basic gear to start What do you usually stream? Mainly FPS and Battle Royale games. I would say Rainbow 6 Siege is my current main game, but am also really enjoying Battlefield 5, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Apex Legends, Destiny 2 and more. Way too many great games to play right now!

What do you think is the best part about being a content creator? The freedom to create evolving content in your own style, and be able to share that with others. For me, it’s a rewarding space to be myself! I love that I have been able to have such a positive effect on others, both inspiring and entertaining. How many hours a day do you devote to producing videos/ streaming content? Generally streaming 4–6 times a week for a minimum three hours for streaming. Around work/family commitments I find time to make/ edit content mostly in the late

hours of the morning. What is sleep? Lol.

Do you think Australia is behind in comparison with the rest of the world when it comes to recognising streaming/content creation as a viable career? I feel Aus has been behind, but is quickly catching up to the rest of the world in terms of “known” creators and streamers. So many amazing Aussies are now becoming worldwide names. It’s inspiring to see and I hope to join them someday! What is some advice you’d give to anyone who would want to take up a career as a streamer or a content creator?
