GENRE: simulator PLATFORM: PS4 | XBO | PC MULTIPLAYER: NO JURASSIC WORLD EVOLUTION

If you like dinosaurs, you're gonna love Jurassic World Evolution . Simulation games can be

perceived as being divisive - gamers either love them or hate them, but JWE makes them so accessible that anyone can jump in and play. The game's premise is simple - you have been tasked by John Hammond to start up and run another dinosaur theme park - because that's gone so well in the past... You'll need to send out expedition teams to find fossils, bring the fossils back to the park, extract the DNA, and then once you have enough percentage of a genome you can 'grow' a dinosaur. Once released into the park, these dinos need to be kept fed and watered, have enough friends to play with, and plenty of forests and shrubbery to graze around in. The guests also need to be kept happy. They'll need somewhere to stay, somewhere to eat, somewhere to buy souvenirs, and places to watch the dinosaurs from. Jurassic World Evolution is the ultimate immersion into the Jurassic Park experience. You can grow your own dinosaurs, conduct your own research, and even drive around in a park jeep or a gyrosphere. They certainly spared no expense.

CAPTAIN TOAD: TREASURE TRACKER

GENRE: ACT/ADV PLATFORM: SWITCH | 3DS MULTIPLAYER: YES

A welcome return of the Wii U title, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker variously sees both our intrepid champ-ignon Toad and the lovely Toadette searching out – you guessed it – treasure. Your main weapon here is wits, as you rotate the level to uncover hidden delights, as well as to see just where you’re sending your protagonist mushie – be it somewhere useful, or somewhere doomy. Adventures continue through three sizeable chapters, offering all manner of environments and challenges – including the occasional giant boss battle.

Throw in extra challenges per level involving achieving a specific aim and spotting a teensy pixel toad hiding away somewhere, and there’s certainly plenty for completists to wrap their bonces about. Also, four new levels have been plopped into this Switch version, all based around possibly Nintendo’s greatest masterpiece yet, Super Mario Odyssey. An absolute visual treat, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is one of the most overwhelmingly charming outings that you’ll find for the Switch, combining challenging – but not frustrating – puzzles suitable for those of any age with the exploits of the Mushroom Kingdom’s most unsung hero, Toad. It really puts the “fun” back into “fungi”.
