YOOKA-LAYLEE

If you’re a fan of classic platform games then the names Donkey Kong Country and Banjo-Kazooie will be very familiar, as they’re two of the best ever. Many of the boffins behind those games – including coders, designers and musicians – have got the band back together to create Yooka-Laylee , and the world is in for a platforming treat. The dynamic duo of Yooka (a lizard kind of thing) and Laylee (he’s a bat, and that’s that) have some pretty important work to carry out in this

huge open-world platformer. Corporate greed has invaded in the form of Capital B and Quack, who’ve hatched a cunning plan to absorb all of the world’s books and turn them into pure profit. Fans of a quiet read on a Sunday arvo (probably), Yooka and Laylee aren’t having any of this, so with their bulging arsenal of special moves they take on big bad B and Quack, scouring various worlds for ‘Pagies’. The more they uncover, the more worlds they have to explore. It’s no fool’s

errand, however, for despite facing all manner of crazy characters, big bosses, quiz shows, arcade machines, on-rails bits and more, they’re determined to save the world – one collectible at a time. With your help in controlling them both, of course.

GENRE: RPG PLATFORM: PS4 RELEASE: 31/03/17 MULTIPLAYER: NO

Taking two popular game series and banging them together isn’t a new concept, but damn it’s a good one. We discovered this when Omega Force’s Warriors series crashed into the venerable Dragon Quest last year, which kicked out some of the more time- taking turn-based RPG stuff in favour of manic hack and slash, combo-infused nirvana. If you were savvy

There’s never been a better time to be a Kingdom Hearts fan. OK, so that sounded like a carpet commercial, but with remastered re-releases of historic games in the series raining down, it’s classic Disney-infused Final Fantasy heaven. Following on from Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue , this disc bursts at the hub with six remasters – Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts

enough to catch the equally cumbersomely titled The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below then you’ll know what to expect here, as up to four players aim to stop the previously peaceful seven kingdoms from their sudden waging of all-out war. Watch you don’t get Slimed!

Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded . (‘BAM!’ goes our word count!) Don’t miss this brilliant catch-up opportunity before Kingdom Hearts III hits (hopefully) later this year.
