Uncharted Territory Exploding methods of transport are to Nathan Drake as rolling boulders are to Indiana Jones. The treasure hunter has been on a few misadventures in his time, and to celebrate the launch of Naughty Dog’s fourth – and final? – instalment in the Uncharted series next month, we take a look back at what ol’ Nath’s been up to.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune Take away Indy’s whip and his hat and you’re left with Nathan Drake. Alleged descendant of the infamous explorer/Elizabeth I's personal pirate, Sir Francis Drake, Nathan embarks upon a journey to discover El Dorado – the City of Gold. His journalist pal Elena Fisher decides to document his travels, and gets herself caught up in all his treasure hunting shenanigans. Aided by the longtime Clyde to his Bonnie, Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan, Drake continually battles pirates and conveniently explosive vehicles, not unlike Nic Cage in National Treasure – just with less Diane Kruger.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Two years after Uncharted 2 , Nate and Sully return to sell a ring paid for by counterfeit banknotes, only to travel back in time to when they first met. Drake becomes Victor’s protégé, and the two fast forward to the present where they continue to chase after the very same ring. The rest of the story is essentially a treasure trove of father-son bonding and a lot of Nate realising he’s smitten with Elena. The multiplayer introduced a few free-for-all modes, as well as dynamic environments; you guessed it, more combustible planes. UC3's multiplayer was also changed to scale beneficially to the losing team, making for more competitive matches.

Robin Atkin Downes is a renowned film, television and video game actor, and makes an appearance as a voice in every Uncharted game – including 4. His other work includes appearances on The Strain , Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain , Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series , and Thundercats .
