KIAH ROACHE-TURNER

Kiah Roache-Turner burst onto the scene with Wyrmwood , a Mad Max -inspired zombie film that established him as a bold new voice in cinema. He followed it up with Wyrmwood: Apocalypse , the techno-horror Nekrotronic , and his latest project, Sting , which features a massive spider and a fat bucket of heebie-jeebies. Horror and comedy infusion While Kiah explores various subgenres, humour remains a cornerstone of all his films. Despite the violence, gore, and heavy themes, comedy consistently takes centre stage, making each movie a unique thrill ride. Practical effects Although Sting is his most polished production to date, Kiah revels in old-school techniques. As a child of the ‘80s, his work carries a nostalgic quality, thanks to his commitment to practical effects and physical movie tricks. For every digital effect, there are numerous puppets, squibs, and examples of rubber guts on display. Dystopia Sting , as with all of Kiah Roache-Turner’s films, is set in a post-apocalyptic or dystopian world, featuring a narrative centred around extreme conditions and technology. Even Sting carries a sense of abandonment, with survival remaining a central theme. Get ready for November, because there’s a huge slate of releases. Eli Roth’s Borderlands will be hitting all physical media formats, as well as Blake Lively’s polarising romantic drama It Ends with Us , M. Night Shyamalan’s latest thriller Trap , and heaps more. just a fun family movie produced during Disney’s experimental era in the ’90s, but some endearing moments have stuck with me since I was young, plus the soundtrack still hits. What’s one of your all-time favourite movies, and why? Again tough, but I can’t go past The Dark Knight . I’ve been a huge Batman fan since before I can remember, and it was the film that made me look at movies as an art form. It also opened my eyes to Christopher Nolan and the films that inspired him. What’s one of your all-time favourite TV series, and why? I’m gonna cheat and list two; Neon Genesis Evangelion and Community , both series I feel are similar in that they both explore the human condition, one with a more philosophical outlook, and the other through a more situational comedic lens. What have you been watching lately that you’d recommend? I have been loving the recent 4K re-releases, and just picked up Chinatown and Taxi Driver , two of the best films ever made. The quality of UHD upgrades are both excellent. I highly recommend both of them.

This is a tough question, but I might have to go with A Goofy Movie . On the surface, it’s
