Most movie franchises run out of speed well before reaching a tenth instalment, but The Fast and the Furious shows no sign of slowing down. Fast & Furious X was another massive box office hit and is hurtling onto physical formats this month. The winning combination of high-octane – and often totally bonkers – action set pieces, a galaxy of A-list stars along for the ride, and the charisma of leading man Vin Diesel continue to propel the series to greater heights, and Fast & Furious X delivers another full-throttle experience for fans. August also sees Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy reassemble for a third and final standalone movie, and an Aussie music icon is celebrated in the documentary feature John Farnham: Finding the Voice . Music finds three Aussie young guns – G Flip, Didirri, and Gretta Ray – clueing us in on the creation of their new albums, and we celebrate Mushroom Records’ 50th anniversary with a collection of features on the revered homegrown company and its late founder, Michael Gudinski. Vital Vinyl gets a fungi takeover with the best of Mushroom’s most recent titles, and we review newies from Blur, Fanny Lumsden, The Hives, and Ian Moss. From coffee machines and robot vacuums to good grooming gear and laundry essentials, this month’s tech section is bursting with great gift ideas for Father’s Day, along with all the latest tech that’s hitting JB. In games, Immortals of Aveum is a brand new magic-themed adventure from the minds behind Call of Duty and Dead Space, and it’s heading to JB this month along with homegrown title Moving Out 2 .
