Few bands in history have arrived with the ferocity and impact that RATM did in 1992. A sonic slam of protest and activism, the band drew

from a long line of influences to create a distinctive, unparalleled sound over three global best-selling long players. The fourth and final album, Renegade , is a curation of those influences in the form of a tribute album of reimagined covers. Pulling together and tweaking a diverse collection of songs, RATM make each track their own including the Stones’ Street Fighting Man and Devo’s Beautiful World . However, it’s the versions of Eric B. & Rakim’s Microphone Fiend and Minor Threat’s In My Eyes that don’t just lift the roof off, they send it into the next suburb. violently upended the status quo by producing music that reflected the political unrest and disenfranchisement sweeping Britain. Signing with CBS Records after just 30 gigs, the band forged Joe Strummer's social criticism with Mick Jones’s untempered guitar licks to create a powerful and raw debut crafted in a high rise flat in west London. These are 13 brutally honest right hooks (and reggae cover, Police & Thieves ) offering an authentic snapshot of being young on the squalid streets of 1970s London. This is the real deal; an iconic high energy punk lynchpin. TOP TRACK: White Riot FAST FACT: The band’s gig soundman Mickey Foote was recruited to produce the album.

Endless Summer Vacation

Tragic absurdity and secret hope abound in the new album from piano-pants Ben Folds. It’s his first album in eight years, and comes with this mission explanation from the artist himself: ”More than anything, I wanted to make an album that was generous, that was useful. I want you to finish this record with something you didn’t have when you started.”
