With a built-in trackball and a new style of keyboard that left room for palm rests, this portable PC would inform the future design of all laptop computers and was a watershed moment for Apple. Despite the PowerBook's popularity, the computer was prone to overheating on account of it's full-sized processor and was discontinued in 2006. Apple replaced it with the MacBook and the rest is history.
