Off the cuff Blood pressure monitors are available with the traditional upper-arm cuff type as well as a wrist-cuff model, which automatically inflate and deflate. Upper-arm cuffs are considered more accurate, as wrist-cuff monitors are more sensitive to movement – the wrist must be elevated level with the heart when measuring. Upper-arm cuffs generally fit a medium sized limb, so it’s best to first check the fit if you have small arms or big biceps.
