What’s your all-time favourite album and why?

Joni Mitchell, Hejira. To keep it short, it feels like more than just music. On a surface level I love the meditative and enveloping sounds, with the waves of ethereal jazz guitar and keys,

and Joni’s hypnotic vocal melodies. It also works on other levels – so many pieces of wisdom on life that one can take from it. I fell in love with it when I was about 20, and it’s become more resonant as I’ve grown and become a more mature person.

Do you have a vinyl collection? If so, how did it begin, and expand?

Yes, albeit small. I started about 2011 when I got a surprise 7" record in the mail from a music YouTuber who I bought merch off of, and I just continued it, buying some of my then-faves like J Dilla’s Donuts and Boards of Canada’s Geogaddi . I now buy one every few months or so, but I’m consistent. I have probably about 50 records or so, but maybe five times as many CDs (yes, I still buy those, too!).

What’s an early, cherished music memory?

Discovering the ’weirder’ side of music through the late night programming on Triple J when I was about 10-12.

Which recent album do you currently have on repeat?

What do you enjoy most about working in music at JB?

Connecting with fellow music lovers with what they’re passionate about. We may not share the same tastes, but there’s a mutual understanding on how music can affect us and inspire life-long memories and feelings.
