CHART Vinyl

STACK’s ROVING REPORTER

Looking for the Vinyl Chart? We've moved her over to our newly dedicated double-page spread for the STACK RECORD CLUB on page 77!

What’s your all-time favourite album and why?

Yikes! That's a tough one. My top five 'desert island' albums would be (in no order), Utopia Parkway by Fountains of Wayne, Creatures Of Leisure by Mental As Anything, Bad Self Portraits by Lake Street Dive, There Is Nothing Left To Lose by Foo Fighters, and Sweeter Than The Radio by Icecream Hands.

Do you have a vinyl collection? If so, how did it begin, and expand?

TRAVIS RICHARDS @ JB Brisbane Queen Street Software Media Advisor

I do, and it started in roughly 2007 when I was 16. The first vinyl record that I bought was Mental As Anything's 1985 album Fundamental As Anything . Fast forward to now, and I've got 500+ in my collection. Most recent purchases would be Spin Doctors, The Cardigans, Robyn, The Haunting Of Hill House OST and The Electric Indian.

What’s an early, cherished music memory?

Getting to see my all-time favourite Aussie band Mental As Anything for the first time at the Ekka back in 2004 with my Dad.

What do you enjoy most about working in music at JB?

Which recent album do you currently have on repeat?

I've been at JB nearly 11 years, and working here has definitely expanded my musical horizons and exposed me to all sorts of artists. Being part of a cohesive and well-structured team and getting to talk to customers about music, whilst also providing recommendations, is fun too. I enjoy testing my knowledge and helping people find that coveted album that they've been searching so long for. It's great to have customers come back because you've built a rapport, and hear that the store has a good selection of titles.

Been revisiting these four albums constantly the last few months: 1. Obviously by Lake Street Dive

2. Ghost Of Vroom 1 by Ghost Of Vroom 3. Don't Ask Yourself Why by Jess Locke 4. Calico Jim by Pony Bradshaw
