W hen we first discussed the idea of running a feature about hair care, we reached out for some products to review. After all, there’s no point in talking about styling tools without trialling them. Silver Bullet kindly obliged by forwarding a selection from their range to road test. The Australian- owned company has been developing hair tools for salon use for over 15 years, and now produce a consumer range. We received the Silver Buller Titanium Supernova 230, Silver Bullet Keratin 230 Titanium, Silver Bullet XOXO Auto Hair Curler, and the Silver Bullet Genesis Hot Air Brush for review. In order to put the styling tools through the paces, we recruited the director and owner of the multi- award-winning Geelong-based Crew Faced Makeup Artistry, Jessica Anderson. Operating from three successful salons and with over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry, Jessica – who regularly uses salon-quality hair tools – used the Silver Bullet hair tools extensively over a two-week period.

Silver Bullet Titanium Supernova 230 Jessica says: “On first impressions, this is a beautiful looking tool that stands out in the studio. I did find the hair finished shinier compared to the Supernova, thanks to the keratin plates. Silver Bullet XOXO Auto Hair Curler Jessica says: “An amazing tool for the beginner through to the professional stylist. It's easy to use and the automatic feature makes the experience fuss-free. It delivers beautiful results and I’ve had three friends purchase the tool already through recommendation. It’s also extremely satisfying to watch the curl wrap through the tool with one-touch operation, and it only takes eight seconds to release the perfect curl. Being able to rotate the curl left or right for more difficult to reach areas makes light work of this product. Silver Bullet Genesis Hot Air Brush Jessica says: “Where have you been all my life?!" This handy blow dryer and ceramic barrel styling brush in one will save me time and muscle in the standard blow dry technique. I used the 38mm hot air brush and will need to get my hands on the other two sizes as well! My least favourite hair styling application is now enjoyable thanks to this amazing tool; great work Silver Bullet! The ceramic brush allows the hair passing through to be completely heated, with the bristles keeping hair frizz-free and smooth. I also enjoyed easy conversation with my client whilst using this tool, thanks to the lower volume of this brush in comparison to a hairdryer. My arms thanked me at the end of the day, too. There was less strain on my upper body using the Genesis compared to the standard blow drying technique. I certainly won't be reaching for the brush and dryer combination again. Smooth, frizz-free bouncy hair is now easier than ever.
