Assassin’s Creed . I’ve dedicated countless hours to the franchise. I was especially obsessed with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – I clocked close to 500 hours on that one alone! I’m definitely going to be clocking a lot of hours with Valhalla , too.

What’s the best thing about working in games at JB?

What are you playing currently?

3 FIFA 21

I’ve been working in games at JB for almost ten years now, and I’d have to say the best thing about working in the department is the amazing products I sell. There’s always so much going on in games, from new release titles to new gaming accessories. I have a huge passion for video games and not a lot of people can say they do their hobby as their job.

I’ve just started playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla , but I frequently still jump over to Animal Crossing: New Horizons on my Switch. Or, if mates are online, I’ll jump into Call of Duty: Warzone . I also love mucking around in The Sims 4 on PC.

What would be your desert island console?

What’s your earliest video gaming memory?

8 NBA 2K21

Ha-ha, can I say all three current gens?! I could use the PS5 as a floating device then the Switch as a paddle and the Xbox Series X to break open the coconuts! It’s actually a really hard choice. I’ve never been a fangirl of just one brand. Each console has its own amazing hardware perks and great exclusive titles.

Playing Halo for hours with my brother! I’ve played through each Halo multiple times, and I could never get bored of the franchise. I have my brother to thank for the love that I have for video games.

GAME CHANGERS! A YEAR IN GAMING Considered the dawn of the golden age of arcade video games, 1978 saw the industry still finding its feet, until one game in particular not only found its own feet, but those of millions of coined-up punters. 1978

When Taito released Space Invaders in June of 1978 they hoped for success, but they never counted on it changing the world. Essentially a variant on Pong/Breakout -styled games, its space theme, addictive gameplay and stress- inducing quickening rhythm soon saw it become a mass addiction.

Meanwhile, at home, Atari’s VCS console became available in Australia. Bringing with it the ability to jam in different cartridges to play different games, it was reasonably successful before going supernova in 1980, with thanks to its new pack-in game… a licensed version of Space Invaders .

One of the most enduring Japanese game development and publishing companies, Namco, dipped their toes into the arcade pool with their first original game, Gee Bee . Absolutely nothing to do with disco singers with very high voices, it was another Pong/Breakout variant, with pinball overtones.
