The Martian Where did that decade go? It’s been ten years since Ridley Scott’s The Martian landed in cinemas, telling the gripping story of Matt Damon’s astronaut stranded on Mars. Widely acclaimed on release, the film stood out for its scientific realism, thanks in part to NASA’s collaboration, which also aimed to spark interest in real-life Mars exploration. Though it didn’t take home a statuette, The Martian earned seven Oscar nominations, including ‘Best Picture’ and ‘Best Actor’.
